About Edenhope
The following quotes are from Hopi Elders and Spiritual Leaders: Chief Dan Evehema and Tom Banyacya. The Sacred Tradition they have brought us ….is derived from a Covenant their forebears made with Massauu - the Creator - a thousand years ago and so was conferred upon all generations since. It was singularly honored ….by Hopi. According to the covenant, the world would thus be held in some sort of balance ….and not destroyed [in spite of our provocations] as long as ‘they’ remained Peaceful [hence the name ‘Hopi’!
- “Now we are at the very end of our trail. Many people no longer recognize the true path of the Great Spirit. They have, in fact, no respect for the Great Spirit or for our precious Mother Earth, who gives us all life.”
Dan Evehema - d.6.2.1999 age 108
- “Nature itself does not speak with a voice that we can easily understand. Who in this world can speak for nature and the spiritual energy that creates and flows through all life”
Thomas Banyacya - d.15.1.1999 age 89
The Edenhope Project
Espiritu Santo,
Vanuatu
It has become unconscionably clear that man has caused great distress in the natural world ….it is no longer possible to ignore the damage that has been done. Edenhope was conceived in that knowing….
On 19 December 2011, the Project became an ‘Official’ Conservation Area to be known as the Edenhope Nature Preserve. Its explicit purpose was/is to protect the bio-diversity within its perimeter ….in that this was also to include Man, it was uniquely differentiated from all other such Nature Preserves in the world….
The actual site of the Project is some 50kms from the nearest road [trail] and 90kms from the only infrastructure on the island: Luganville, the second largest town [13,000 or so] in the Vanuatu archipelago. The location of Edenhope is about as far [out] as one gets from the fatally-flawed civilization that the very fact of Edenhope denies.
Here we have a 75-year lease [the longest possible] on almost 2,000 acres of tropical forest. The site where the ‘Edenhope’ village is constructed - at 125m of elevation - is 8.3kms from the nearest village and 4.75 kms from the sea. The land of Edenhope rises to 1,087m along some 4.5 kms of river. Its ‘village’/ ‘campus’ is in the gentle lower reaches of this land, bordering the river. It currently comprises of five bungalows, two bush cabins, a community center, an admin building, and a pavilion for meditation and classes.
The modus operandi of the Project might be best described as a living seminar in permanent session. In honor of the wisdom it acknowledges, it might be also called the ‘EdenHopi’ Project because, like the Hopi ….Edenhope is also at Peace.
Membership in the Project will only be extended to those who have clearly demonstrated their commitment to Creation. Thus Edenhope expects to amass the spiritual ‘horsepower’ it will need to face the most dramatic challenges ever to confront Earth’s Children!
Visitors [by invitation only] who wish to evaluate the possibility of joining this effort will be received as temporary [donation-paying] guests for a limited period. In the early days, a small number of volunteers [WWOOFERs] will also be invited. Everyone will share a vegan-vegetarian lifestyle that will naturally evolve into raw …..as its gardens and orchards permit.
While there is still time, Edenhope will complete a transition into a LifeStyle that honors Creation and serves its Sacred Purpose. Besides - it is patently clear - Mother Nature will no longer tolerate the unrelenting harm [we have] so mercilessly inflicted upon her….
